...About Spending the Night in a Parking Lot
The past couple of days have been fun as I went out with a few of my friends.
On Wednesday I met up with Lidia and Suzie at Vaughn Mills to do a little shopping. I had a fun time there. Those girls are funny. We made some friends at Teuls, some enemies at some shoe store, and ate candy apples. Well, Suzie ate candy apples. Apparently she craves that. Who craves candy apples?? I never even knew there was a store that sells them! Anyway, after we were done we went to Lidia's house to get ready to go to watch the battle of the bands at Willy O'Neils. I didn't go so really the other two girls were getting ready to go. Apparently Lidia works part time as a hair dresser too. Salon Lidia, is what I like to call her bathroom. She also owns Nona's Cuisine...she made me fish. mmm. I am totally gonna take advantage of her salon next time though.
On Thursday night after work I met up with my dancing friends at Thai Bamboo...or is it Bamboo Thai? I love the food there. My only concern with going there was that I knew we were a loud bunch, and that restaurant cannot handle us. Boy, was I right. Cinzia is officially not returning there with her bosses for lunch, and I can't show my face there again either. lol. Not that we did anyting bad, but again, we got loud (but only closer to the end when no one was really there anymore) and we were the last people to leave. Like as soon as we exited the place they locked up behind us and left. Oh dear. But I knew that our dinner was going to be off to a bad start with the people that worked there because upon my arrival there, as I was saying hi to everyone, I totally stepped on one of the lady's foot and nearly knocked her over. She was a tiny Asian. And she gave me a dirty look even though I apologized. Sheesh. Anyway, after eating and cracking jokes and talking about our first impressions of each other when we met in class (which was definitely interesting...and no, there wasn't talk behind my back to see if I was 'cool' enough to be their freind..*hint hint*) and being so thankful that we met and remain good friends today (I know, its sooo cheese! Daniela would hate that.), we were gonna head over to Tim Horten's but hung out at the parking lot and took a lot of pics instead. My friend Mehran is a photographer and he's quite gifted. The pics turned out nice. Take a look!

Valev is on the floor, and Mehran is the other guy: then there is Rhoda, Me and Cinzia

I think this pic is cool. I don't know how this worked, but Mehran just positioned us and then on his cue he told us to just move around. So we acted like a bunch of goofballs and started dancing around and the pic turned out like this. He was going for a ghostlly effect. Coolio!

Anyway, good times again. And next week will be ever better! Whoo hoo!

...About How My Family Can't Be Seen in Public
Today I spent the day with my family.
After waking up and preparing for a garage sale that we will be having tomorrow, my mother, lil bro and I went on our way to Heart Lake Conservation Park to meet with the rest of the familia. We got there a little late, around 5 pm (the park closes at 8). Now, normally this would be fine. However, to get into this park you have to pay a fee per PERSON (it used to be per car...but I guess since Indians came along and packed 15 people in a 5 seater car they changed the rules). So of course, the negotiator in my mother comes out (sometimes this negotiator is embarressing...but if you ask Daniela I do the same thing...from computers to cars, I try to get some sort of discount). My mother tries to convince the guy to let us in for half price since the park would be closing in 3 hours, and although he said so, my mom takes out the money and holds it in front of him, as if to taunt him, and continues to try to convince him to let us in for a cheaper price before finally handing him over the money. I later find out that ALL my aunts did the same thing....oh immigrants....
So after getting in, settling down, eating some snacks, blaring the arabic music and dancing (my mom and aunts, not me) playing musical chairs (again, mom and aunts), time ran out and we had to leave. So we dediced to go downtown for Taste of the Danforth. There was about 30 of us that went...ummm....30 loud arabs in public...not good...
All in all we had a good time...but along the way we lost my older cousin (dont ask me how), we started traffic by stopping every 5 minutes to do a head count and look at food (LOOK...not buy), we reunited with an old friend of my uncles and actually ate greek food this time while he went in and helped them in the kitchen because they were really busy (lol...oh my uncle..he's a chef, so he loves the kitchen), saw santa clause! who was sitting on a picnic chair with a sign that read "santa's sleigh broke down...yet santa wore nice Aldo shoes and has a razor cell phone, and then finally on the way home while I was in my car with 2 of my cousins a car beside us with some guys in it started to talk to us and when I gave them the finger they started to talk louder...my goodness...
Anyway, we finally got home after such a long day. Nice time with the familia...I could totally use some coffee right now but its 2:06 am....but you all should know that I have been cutting back on my coffee intake! Oh yes! I am not drinking a cup or two everyday now. It's more like every other day. Yeah for me!
Unfortunately I don't have any pics of tonights event, so I can not entertain you with pictures. But if you know me well enough, you'll understand what my family can be like and what exactly happned.

...About Evil Raccoons!

A few weeks ago, maybe longer, my uncle bought a few chicks for his kids and has raised them in his backyard. Yes, in Brampton we do live on farms, and even if we don't we like to think we do, so we bring the chickens to us. Now I don't know if it's the Lebanese in him that wanted to do this (because we all have chickens in Lebanon, it's great), or maybe he just wanted them for fun for his kids, who knows. Point is he got them (in fact, when my lil bro was around 9 years old, my father bought couple of chicks as well, but we didn't keep them as long as my uncle has).
So I have been meaning to go over and see them, and he has been telling me to come and check them out as well. This morning my uncle called us at home. I picked up. My uncle asked me if I ever had the chance to go over and see them, and of coruse I tell him no. He proceeds to tell me that now it is too late because raccoons ate them. Oh yes! Raccoons! Those sons of a....racoon...?
Anyway, apparently the other day my uncle was in his family room and he noticed a raccoon in the backyard (oh, btw, for all you Bramptonians, he lives in the H-section). Of course he chases it away. Later on, a few come back and he finds them in the food bin for the chicks. So my uncle chases them again and hides the food. And still they come back. At this point my uncle has no idea what is going on, or why they keep coming back. Finally he gets rid of them one more time, thinking they were gone for good, and then leaves with his family to go see my other uncle. That night (or perhaps it was the next morning) my uncle goes out to see the chicks and they are gone...with only their feathers left behind. Oh dear!
Now the chicks were kept in a little fenced in area...but the raccoons didn't go OVER the fence to get them. Oh no. They are smarter than that. They actually dug UNDER the fence to grab them. Those bastards! So my lil cousin, who is turning 3 next week and is as cute as a button and oh-so smart, hears that they are gone, covers her mouth and says 'oh no!'. My other cousin, who is maybe 10 years old kept saying "you have to be kidding me?!' Needless to say, they were all upset about it.
I'm tellin ya, I never liked raccoons. They are sneaky. And big. And I don't like it. AND clearly they are up to no good!
So, in memory of the chicks, and to protect all chicks worldwide (or at least just in Brampton) I have decided to dedicate myself to finding the raccoons that did this! My uncle has cameras set up around his house, so we were actually able to catch the criminals in action. Please, take a good look. If you think you have seen them then please let me know. I'll take care of their punishment myself.
Take care everyone. Stay Safe. Protect Your Chicks.
RIP Chicketees...if only they were actually carrying those guns...
